Hello, I’m Dustin Hillis. I was born in Fort Worth, Texas. As a kid I lived in Nashville, Tennessee, then I went to junior high and high school in Dalton, Georgia. I got a scholarship to play college football in a Division II NCAA university in Bolivar, Missouri. I got hurt and transferred to University of Tennessee where I received my Psychology degree. For the past 18 years I’ve lived in Nashville, Tennessee with my badass wife, powerhouse daughter and the best dog in the world Elon.
After 20 years of working in corporate America at the same company, and spending the last 4 years serving as CEO, we were excited to have the freedom to pack up our house, and hit the road for 9 months on an RV! I drove from Nashville, Tennessee down the Baja to Cabo, Mexico, then back up the Baja up to Spokane, Washington, then over to New York, and back down to Nashville… with over 30 stops in-between.
My wife manages our real estate portfolio under our management company Houndcock Holdings. We have everything from a luxury treehouse B&B, a ranch home that sleeps 12 people, an estate house with 6 bedrooms on 5 acres, a lake house and a couple of houses in Cabo, Mexico.
I’m currently enjoying the freedom away from corporate America. I’m helping serve as an Executive Board Member for several exciting businesses. I’m having fun fishing as much as possible and investing time with my family and friends. I also have a new hobby in drone photography and a fun business called Hawkeye Drone Photos.
The reason for writing this blog is I love writing and teaching. I find more fulfillment in helping other people achieve success than achieving my own. I’ve authored a book and co-authored 2 other books (one of which is an Amazon best seller). I directly led the team that designed 4 coaching curriculums that’s been used to coach over 20,000 business professionals in over a dozen countries. I’ve written articles for Fast Company, Forbes and was a regular contributor of the Tennessean and CEO Magazine. I was the co-host of a popular podcast and I was a guest teacher at Vanderbilt University for many years. As I was saying… I love writing and teaching. This blog is my new outlet. 🙂
My loves & interests:
I love talking about God. I get frustrated when people confuse religion and dogma with Jesus. The religious folks are who killed Him. But the good news is He is alive today.
I love my wife, daughter and dog Elon.
My core beliefs are:
– Grace is what the world needs. Everyone should be given the gift of grace.
– Living life to the fullest. You only live once.
– Good will always triumph over evil. We battle not against flesh and blood, but principalities in the spiritual realm… and what an epic battle we get to live through. The good news is this is not new, nothing is new under the sun… and the good guys always win.
– You can do anything you truly put your mind to doing. Quantum Thinking is something that has really put words and a framework to one of my core beliefs. In this blog we will talk a lot about Quantum Thinking, psychology and mindset.
I love talking about belief. In order to have belief, you have to have faith. In order to have faith, you have to have values. In order to have values, you have to have an identity. To have an identity, you have to have a source of Truth. My Truth is the Bible. My Identity is in Jesus Christ. My values are life, family and freedom. My faith is in good presiding over evil. My belief is through God you can do anything you put your mind to doing.
I’m interested in psychology. What is it that caused people to behave in certain ways? This can be applied to leadership, career and life. Understanding people’s core motivations helps you to help them get to where they want to go. I believe God put us on this earth to help other people.
I enjoy traveling with my family, drinking wine with friends and telling stories, fishing, snow skiing and taking photos with my drone. I hope you enjoy my blog. 🙂
